Greek employers have stable hiring intentions for the period October-December 2019, a survey by ManpowerGroup said on Tuesday.
The survey showed that 20 pct of employers expect an increase in their workforce, 8.0 pct expects a decline and 70 pct expect no change at all, with the total employment outlook index at 18 pct. Hiring plans remain relatively unchanged compared with the previous quarter and in comparison with the corresponding period last year.
Employers in all nine sectors of economic activity expect an increase in their workforce in the fourth quarter of 2019, with the commerce sector (retail/wholesale) recording the strong hiring prospects (27 pct), followed by the electricity/natural gas/water sector (22 pct), construction (20 pct), tourism (17 pct), financial services (16 pct) and public sector & social services (8.0 pct). Hiring plans are weak in six out of nine sectors of economic activity compared with the previous quarter, led by transport & communications (-14 percentage points). The agriculture and commerce sectors are expecting more hirings in the fourth quarter.
Employers from large enterprises expect more hirings in the fourth quarter (total employment outlook index at 25 pct), while in medium-sized enterprises the outlook is 21 pct and in small and micro enterprises the outlook is 17 pct and 13 pct, respectively.
