Greek FΜ Dendias welcomes Egyptian President el-Sisi to Athens

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias welcomed on behalf of the Greek government Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the Athens International Airport on Tuesday evening, for a two-day visit starting Wednesday.

“I welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi,” Dendias said in a tweet, “a visit that marks the strong ties and the close collaboration between Greece and Egypt.”

Sisi is paying an official visit to Greece Nov. 11-12 at the invitation of President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, with whom he will meet on Wednesday.

This will be the first visit of a top Egyptian official to Athens after the signing of the agreement between Greece and Egypt on the delimitation of the two countries’ Exclusive Economic Zone in Cairo in August 2020.

On Wednesday, prior to meeting Sakellaropoulou, the Egyptian president will lay a wreath at the monument of the Unknown Soldier. He will later meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, while in the evening President Sakellaropoulou will host an official dinner in his honor.

On Thursday morning the President of Egypt will meet with Parliament President Constantine Tassoulas.
