Greek hospitality sector lost 3.2 billion euros in turnover in Q3 2020

The Greek hospitality sector suffered turnover losses of 3.2 billion euros in the third quarter of 2020, of which 2.5 billion were losses suffered by hotels, Hellenic Statistical Authority said in a report on Wednesday.

More specifically, enterprises in the hotel sector reported an accumulated turnover of 1,558,171,593 euros in the third quarter of 2020, down 61.4 pct compared with the same period in 2019 (4,034,094,834 euros), with the Karpathos region recording the biggest percentage decline (-84.5 pct) and Grevena region the smallest percentage decline (-4.2 pct). The Florina region recorded a 0.6 pct increase. Enterprises in the restaurant sector reported an accumulated turnover of 1,580,633,291 euros in the third quarter, down 31.2 pct compared with the same period in 2019 (2,298,824,542 euros). The Karpathos region recorded the biggest decline (-69.5 pct) and Serres the smallest decline (-0.8 pct).
