Greek import price index up 4.4 pct in January

The Greek import price composite index in the industrial sector grew 4.4 pct in January this year, compared with the same month last year, after a 12.1 pct increase recorded in the 2017/2016 period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Tuesday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, attributed this development in so-called imported inflation to: a 0.2 pct increase in the import price index from Eurozone countries and an 8.1 pct rise in the import price index from countries outside Eurozone.

The composite index rose 1.4 pct in January from December 2017, after an 1.1 pct rise recorded in the same period last year.
