Greek industrial production fell 2.0 pct in February compared with the same month last year despite a 0.2 pct increase in manufacturing production, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday.
The statistics service, in a monthly report, said the industrial production index was up 10.5 pct in February 2017 and attributed this year’s development to: a reduction in mining production (12.7 pct), electricity production (6.1 pct) and water production (4.0 pct). On the other hand, manufacturing production grew 0.2 pct in February reflecting increases of 16.1 pct in alcohol, 16.6 pct in pharmaceuticals, 10.1 pct in machinery and 21.5 pct in furniture.
The average industrial production index in the January-February 2018 period was down 1.8 pct compared with the corresponding period in 2017. The seasonally-adjusted industrial production index was down 2.0 pct in February from January 2018.
