Greek industrial production up 5.6 pct in August

Greek industrial production grew 5.6 pct in August this year, with manufacturing production up 3.1 pct in the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Tuesday.

The statistics service, in a report, attributed this development to an increase of 6.6 pct in the mining production index, a 3.1 pct rise in manufacturing production (reflecting an 11.9 pct rise in chemicals, a 53.9 pct jump in pharmaceuticals, a 34.9 pct rise in base metals and other manufacturing production up 15.6 pct). Electricity production grew 15.1 pct in August, while water production fell 4.2 pct in the month.

The average index in the January-August period grew 5.4 pct this year compared with the same period in 2016.
