Greek league: Match results

Panathinaikos kept the pressure on rival Olympiakos after grabbing two second-half goals in a five-minute span to beat last-placed Iraklis 2-0 in the Greek league on Sunday.

Sebastian Leto opened the scoring in the 58th minute after a melee inside the area when the ball bounced off his body and rolled slowly into the net.

In the 63rd, Paul-Jose M’Poku scored his first goal for his new team with a shot that hit the left post first.

Panathinaikos remained four points behind league leader Olympiakos but claimed sole possession of second place after AEK Athens lost at PAOK 1-0. Leo Matos scored a last-gasp goal for PAOK.

Thanks to a header by Nigerian international striker Brown Ideye at 54′, Olympiakos won 1-0 against Atromitos at “Peristeri Municipal Stadium” on Saturday. Referee Ioannis Delfakis and his linesmen had many mistaken decisions against the home team, especially at first half, when they disallowed Anthony Le Tallec’s goal (27′) and did not award them a penalty, when visitors’ Manuel da Costa handballed inside the area of the Reds at 8′.

Xanthi FC and Kerkyra played out a goalless draw at Pigadia Stadium, with the visitors having a post hit with Brazilian striker Rogerio Thuram at 38′.

Thanks to goals by Nico Varela Bautista (pen. 10′) and Thomas Nazlidis (83′), Larissa won 2-0 against Panionios at “AEL FC Arena” on Saturday afternoon. Referee Charalampos Kalogeropoulos sent off with direct red cards Francisco Pol Hurtado and Taxiarchis Fountas at 22′, after a fight between the footballers of the two teams, while Cypriot international winger Andreas Avraam had a post hit six minutes later.

Also Sunday, Asteras beat Levadiakos 1-0 and Veria vs. Platanias ended 0-0.

Panetolikos hosts Giannena on Monday.
