Greek president visits ‘ELPIDA’ children’s hospital on International Childhood Cancer Day

President Katerina Sakellaropoulou visited the Children’s Oncology Unit ‘Marianna V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA’, to mark International Childhood Cancer Day on Monday.

She was welcomed by Vardinoyannis, founder and president of the eponymous foundation and of the Elpida Friends Association, as well as by the directors of ‘Aglaia Kyriakou’ and ‘Aghia Sofia’ children’s hospitals.

Sakellaropoulou underlined that “every victory against this invisible enemy is a shining ray of light” and referred to Elpida Foundation’s pioneering work, especially its innovative personalized treatments.

Earlier in the day, the president was visited by a delegation from ‘Floga’, the association of parents of children with neoplastic illness, and praised both the parents for their courage and their volunteers.
