Greek stocks continued to fall in the Athens Stock Exchange on Wednesday, pushing the general index of the market toward the 740-point level as pressure on bank shares stayed high.
The index fell 0.86 pct to end at 741.98 points, after rising as much as 0.54 pct during the session. The Large Cap index dropped 1.03 pct and the Mid Cap index also fell 1.03 pct lower. Turnover was a low 56.689 million euros, in volume of 54,611,704 shares.
Jumbo (2.06 pct), Mytilineos (1.75 pc) and OPAP (1.68 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Folli Follie (3.28 pct), Eurobank (2.38 pct), Piraeus Bank (2.22 pct) and Lamda Development (2.04 pct) suffered heavy losses. Among market sectors, Raw Materials (1.75 pct) and Travel (1.30 pct) scored big gains, while Banks (2.78 pct) and Foods (2.01 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 47 to 42 with another 22 issues unchanged.
Lanakam (20 pct), Euromedica (19.27 pct) and Douros (17.65 pct) were top gainers, while Pairis (29.89 pct), CPI (11.76 pct) and Karelias (6.93 pct) were top losers.
