Greek stocks end 1.77 pct higher the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday

Greek stocks jumped in the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday boosted by news that the Greek government was mulling the issue of a 12-month Treasury bill soon for the first time in eight years.

The general index of the market rose 1.77 pct to end at 812.53 points. The Large Cap index ended 1.92 pct higher and the Mid Cap index rose 1.75 pct. Turnover was a low 39.7 million euros in volume of 34.3 million shares. Viohalco (4.87 pct), Jumbo (4.43 pct) scored the biggest percentage gains of the day among blue chip stocks, while Motor Oil (1.31 pct) was the only one to end lower. Among market sectors, Technology (3.45 pct) and Industrial Products (2.94 pct) scored big gains, while Oil fell 0.49 pct. National Bank and Attica Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 80 to 32 with another 124 issues unchanged. Kekrops (16.96 pct), Selonda (10 pct) and Nireus (10 pct) scored big gains, while Intertek (8.70 pct), Intercontinental (5.0 pct) and Druckfarben (4.76 pct) were top losers.
