Greek stocks ended significantly higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Monday, with the main index exceeding the level of 780 points, after the 10-year benchmark Greek bond yield fell to 3.90 pct -the lower level since 2006.
Shares of PPC, ADMIE, HELPE, Piraeus and National Bank were at the focus of buying activity. The general index of the market rose 2.08 pct to end at 78.76 points, reaching an intraday high at 785.06 points. It has gained 6.14 pct in the last four sessions. The Large Cap index rose 1.91 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 3.96 pct higher. Turnover was at 70.384 million euros in a volume of 61,999,459 shares.
PPC (5.67 pct), ADMIE (5 pct) and HELPE (3.40 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Eurobank (-1.23 pct), Terna Energy (-0.87 pct) and GEK TERNA (-0.45 pct) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Health (8.48 pct), Financial Services (4.68 pct) and Oil (3.13 pct) scored big gains, while Technology (-0.32 pct) was the only sector that suffered some losses.
National Bank and MIG were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 72 to 27 with another 42 issues unchanged. Vioter (19.38 pct), IASO (19.29 pct) and MIG (18.24 pct) were top gainers, while Afi Kordeliou (-26.34 pct), Mathios (-2166 pct) and Pasal (-20 pct) were top losers.

The January 2018 contract on the FTSE/ASE Large Cap index was trading at a discount of 0.20 pct in the Athens Derivatives Exchange on Monday. Volume on the Large Cap index totaled 1,127 contracts with 5,370 open positions in the market. Volume in futures contracts on equities totaled 65,415 contracts with investment interest focusing on National Bank’s contracts (25,583), followed by Alpha Bank (5,481), Piraeus Bank (6,133), Eurobank (16,961), MIG (6,733), OTE (552), PPC (567), ADMIE (3466), OPAP (141), Hellenic Exchanges (67), Titan (82), Viohalco (116,), Mytilineos (418), Hellenic Petroleum (174), Motor Oil (57), GEK Terna (81), Piraeus Port (14), Grivalia Properties (3), Cenergy (400).
