Greek stocks ended slightly lower in the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday as investors found few additional reasons to open new positions in the market. The composite index eased 0.20 pct to end at 574.22 points, off the day’s lows of 572.03 points. The Large Cap index fell 0.57 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.07 pct higher. Turnover was a low 33.036 million euros in volume of 37,659,941 shares.
Mytilineos (3.43 pct), GEK Terna (2.65 pct) and Lamda Development (1.73 pct) scored the biggest percentage gains among blue chip stocks, while Aegean Airlines (4.68 pct), OTE (2.31 pct) and Athens Water (1.85 pct) suffered heavy losses. Among market sectors, Raw Materials (3.43 pct), Chemicals (1.80 pct) and Oil (1.03 pct) scored big gains, while Telecoms (2.31 pct) and Travel (1.53 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded securities of the day.
Broadly, advancers led decliners by 54 to 41 with another 21 issues unchanged. Sidma (19.83 pct), Kekrops (14.64 pct) and Euromedica (14.29 pct) were top gainers, while Medicon (19.78 pct), Foodlink (10 pct) and Nakas (9.91 pct) were top losers.
