Greek stocks extended their rally for the sixth successive session in the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday, pushing the general index of the market closer to the 850-point level. The index rose 0.76 pct to end at 848.71 points, for a gain of 6.18 pct in the last six sessions. Buying activity expanded from bank shares to other blue chips, led Viohalco, Mytilineos and OTE.
The Large Cap index rose 0.79 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.26 pct higher. Turnover was an improved 82.522 million euros in volume of 107,015,457 shares.
Viohalco (4.34 pct), Sarantis (3.52 pct) and Mytilineos (3.33 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Hellenic Exchanges (1.74 pct), GEK Terna (1.33 pct) and Eurobank (1.02 pct) suffered heavy losses.
Among market sectors, Raw Materials (3.31 pct), Telecoms (2.61 pct) and Industrial Products (2.41 pct) scored big gains, while Health (2.11 pct) and Financial Services (0.44 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 61 to 49 with another 33 issues unchanged. Dionic (19.21 pct), Euromedica (17.28 pct) and Medicon (11.24 pct) were top gainers, while Vioter (18.75 pct), Aeoliki (9.18 pct) and Euroconsultants (8.94 pct) were top losers.
