Greek stocks moved higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Monday pushing the general index of the market to three-year highs. The index rose 0.97 pct to end at 886.54 points, its highest closing since February 26 2015, led by a strong rally in PPC shares (+12.63 pct).
The Large Cap index rose 0.50 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 1.23 pct higher. Turnover was a strong 73.872 million euros in volume of 58,497,254 shares. PPC (12.63 pct), Athens Water (3.15 pct), GEK Terna (3.01 pct) and Jumbo (2.77 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Coca Cola HBC (1.37 pct), Sarantis (1.3 pct) and OTE (0.63 pct) suffered heavy losses.
Among market sectors, Health (9.02 pct), Utilities (4.80 pct) and Raw Materials (2.23 pct) scored big gains, while Food (1.34 pct) and Telecoms (0.63 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and MIG were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 81 to 42 with another 21 issues unchanged. Kekrops (20 pct), Sato (20 pct) and PPC (12.63 pct) were top gainers, while Lavipharm (15.26 pct), G.E.Dimitriou (12.90 pct) and Vioter (10.53 pct) were top losers.
