Greek stocks moved slightly higher for the second successive session following a rebound in international markets, although the general index of the market failed to break above the 800-point level in the Athens Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
The index rose 0.57 pct to end at 794.56 points, off the day’s highs of 800.84 points. The Large Cap index rose 0.64 pct and the Mid Cap index rose 0.01 pct. Turnover was a low 58.910 million euros in volume of 61,314,424 shares.
Hellenic Exchanges (3.23 pct), Sarantis (2.48 pct) and OPAP (2.32 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while GEK Terna (2.67 pct), ADMIE (2.38 pct) and OTE (1.05 pct) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Financial Services (3.16 pct) and Travel (2.13 pct) scored big gains, while Telecoms (1.05 pct) and Constructions (0.41 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 72 to 43 with another 26 issues unchanged.
Tzirakian (19.59 pct), Livanis Publications (19.30 pct) and Boutaris (18.92 pct) were top gainers, while Pasal (20 pct), Forthnet (14.89 pct) and Progressive (13.68 pct) were top losers.
