Greek stocks moved up in the first trading session of the week in the Athens Stock Exchange.

The general index of the market rose 0.59 pct to end at 743.57 points, off the day’s highs of 746.09 points. The Large Cap index grew 0.67 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.71 pct lower. Turnover was a thin 30.11 million euros in volume of 31,002,135 shares.

Eurobank (4.60 pct), Sarantis (2.88 pct) and Fourlis (2.39 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Attica Bank (1.92 pct), Ellaktor (1.26 pct) and Piraeus Port (1.10 pct) suffered losses.

Among market sectors, Health (1.35 pct), Food (1.32 pct) and Travel (1.02 pct) scored gains, while Financial Services (1.03 pct) and Telecoms (0.67 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and Attica Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day.

Broadly, advancers led decliners by 66 to 48 with another 32 issues unchanged. Leventeris (19.68 pct), GEKE (17.07 pct) and Vioter (10.53 pct) were top gainers, while Athina (20 pct), Lanakam (20 pct) and Yalco (19.58 pct) were top losers.

The November contract on the FTSE/ASE Large Cap index was trading at a premium of 0.02 pct in the Athens Derivatives Exchange on Monday. Volume on the Big Cap index totaled 1,068 contracts, while volume in futures contracts on equities totaled 31,996 contracts with investment interest focusing on National Bank’s contracts (15,303), followed by Alpha Bank (3,823), Piraeus Bank (2,230), Eurobank (7,330), MIG (1,718), OTE (133), PPC (104), Viohalco (196), Mytilineos (316), Motor Oil (109), Ellaktor (107), Intralot (159).

Greek bond market closing report

The yield spread between the 10-year Greek and German benchmark bonds was 5.20 pct in the domestic electronic secondary bond market on Monday, with the Greek bond yielding 5.57 pct (5.64 pct on Friday) and the German Bund yielding 0.37 pct. Turnover was a thin 1.0 million euros.

In interbank markets, interest rates were largely unchanged. The 12-month rate was -0.185 pct, the nine-month rate was -0.223 pct, the six-month rate was -0.276 pct, the three-month rate was -0.321 pct and the one-month rate was -0.374 pct.
