The Greek supermarket sector reported an 1.6 pct increase in the value of sales in 2017, compared with the previous year, Nielsen said in a report released on Monday.
Nielsen attributed this positive development to a positive performance of the market from mid-September onwards – the first time the market showed positive trends after several years of negative performance. Fresh products recorded a 3.6 pct increase in the value of sales, while FMCGs grew by 0.8 pct in 2017. The food/beverage categories rose 1.1 pct in the year, while the personal care category and home product category recorded negative results (-0.7 pct and -0.2 pct, respectively).
