Progress in the course of implementation of the employees’ digital clocking card was discussed at a meeting of Labor & Social Affairs Minister Kostis Hatzidakis and Digital Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis, held on Monday.
“The digital card for employees is a revolution in the labor market, even by European standards,” said Hatzidakis. “It was requested by the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE), and it is being realized by the government,” he added.
The government believes that “the use of digital technologies is fundamental, as it reduces inequalities, it helps the worker, the parent, the expatriate, the taxpaying citizen. And that is exactly why we will stay put in the direction of implementing such types of solutions,” noted Pierrakakis.
The employees’ digital clocking card is expected to tackle undeclared work and overtime and establishes compensation terms for overtime work.
Implementation of the card will begin in the first half of 2022 with the monitoring of real employment in specific sectors of the economy.
