Hellenic Statistical Authority: Car sales down 2.7 pct in May

Car sales fell 2.7 pct in May totaling 16,826 vehices (new and used ones), from 17,290 in the same month last year, after a 33 pct increase recorded in the 2016/2015 period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.

New car registrations totaled 11,461 in May, down 18.8 pct from the same month last year.
In the five-month period, car registrations totaled 68,645, from 60,096 in the same period in 2016, for an increase of 14.2 pct (an increase of 12 pct was recorded in the 2016/2015 period). New car registrations totaled 43,298 in the January-May period, up 5.7 pct from 2016.

Motorcycle sales totaled 4,150 in May, down 12.1 pct from May 2016, with new motorcycle registrrations falling 14.3 pct to 3,805 units. In the five-month period, motorcycle sales fell 22.6 pct to 11,618 units, after a 2.6 pct increase recorded in the 2016/2015 period. New motorcyle registrations fell 25.3 pct to 10,438 units in the five-month period.
