Hellenic Statistical Authority: Greek import price index up 7.2 pct in April

Greece’s import price composite index in the industrial sector grew 7.2 pct in April this year, compared with the same month in 2016, after a 7.9 pct decline recorded in the 2016/2015 period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, attributed this development in the so-called imported inflation to an 1.0 pct increase in the import price index from Eurozone countries and a 13.6 pct rise in the import price index from countries outside Eurozone.

The index fell 0.1 pct in April from March 2017, after an 1.3 pct increase recorded in the same period last year.
