The volume of retail sales grew 1.8 pct in June this year, compared with the same month in 2017, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.
The statistics service, in a report, attributed this development to higher sales in furniture/home appliances (5.5 pct), supermarkets (4.8 pct), department stores (4.4 pct) and pharmaceuticals/cosmetics (2.0 pct), while on the other hand, retail sales fell in food/alcohol/tobacco (6.2 pct), clothing/footwear (4.7 pct) and fuel/lubricants (2.1 pct).
The retail sales volume index (turnover in fixed prices) grew 1.8 pct in June (from June 2017) but grew 4.9 pct from May 2018. The seasonally-adjusted index was unchanged in the June-May period.
The retail sales turnover index (turnover in current prices) grew 3.3 pct in June from June 2017, and rose 6.3 pct from May 2018. The seasonally-adjusted index rose 0.4 pct in June from May 2018.
