Retail sales volume grew 0.3 pct in May compared with the same month in 2016, but fell 6.0 pct compared with April 2017, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Monday.
The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that the volme of retail sales (turnover in fixed prices) grew 0.3 pct in May, while the seasonally-adjusted retail sales volume index fell 1.8 pct in May compared with April 2017.
Sales grew in bookstores (8.6 pct), department stores (7.1 pct), clothing/footwear (3.9 pct), supermarkets (2.1 pct) and furniture/home equipment (1.8 pct), but fell in fuel/lubricants (6.1 pct), food/beverage/tobacco (4.7 pct) and parmaceuticals/cosmetics (0.6 pct).
The retail sales turnover index (turnover in current prices) grew 0.4 pct in May compared with May 2016 but fell 8.3 pct compared with April 2017. The seasonally-adjusted turnover index fell 2.8 pct in May compared with April 2017.
