Higher minimum wage will be implemented without age criteria, Achtsioglou says

The new higher minimum wage will be implemented without age criteria, Labour Minister Effie Achtsioglou said on Sunday in an interview with ‘Avgi’ newspaper.

“The even lower the minimum wage of 511 euros grossly represents an unfavourable age discrimination of young people up to 25 years of age, introduced in 2012 on the pretext of their allegedly easier access to the labor market,” she said.

“The procedure of the increase of the minimum wage will start immediately and will last for four months,” Achtsioglou noted adding that this will also positevely affect higher wages.
