Holy Synod urges testing for unvaccinated in circular on protection measures in churches

The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece on Thursday sent out a circular to the Athens Archiodecese and the metropolitans sees throughout the country concerning the protection measures against the spread of the coronavirus.

The circular noted that, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, it is appealing for the strict observance of protection measures against the spread of the virus when attending church and also encouraged people to get vaccinated, as “indicated by the medical community as an essential measure to protect against the pandemic,” while urging those who are not vaccinated to get tested with either a rapid or PCR test.
Additonally, it noted that all priests and persons working in churches who have not been vaccinated have an obligation to get tested twice a week.
