Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nasos Iliopoulos, in an interview with public radio ERA on Monday, accused the government of trying to cover up the Lignadis case from the moment the first official allegations became known.
He stressed that Culure Minister Lina Mendoni “should have already resigned,” and that it was outrageous that she had not done so. “But her resignation is no longer enough. Ms. Mendoni does not have to answer only to SYRIZA any more. She has to respond to the actors, to their association, to the people of culture, to the people of the Thessaloniki Film Festival who are asking for her resignation,” he noted.
He also underlined that “if the most serious accusations against Mr. Lignadis are proven, we all understand what it means to have a period of 20 days in order to be able to prepare.” He pointed out that “it is important, because a period of time has already been lost, for the authorities to proceed quickly and to investigate all the complaints that have been filed.”
