Journalists join national labour strike on Thursday

Journalists in all public and private media in Greece will strike from 0600 on Thursday (Dec. 14) to 0600 on Friday (Dec. 15), in support of the national strike called on Thursday by the GSEE and ADEDY umbrella unions, following a decision by press unions.

Journalists and press technicians are taking a stance against the antipopular measures and the obligations of the loan memoranda, which bluntly harm all of the Greek people and the media in particular, in a field plagued by layoffs, insecurity, unemployment, new pension cutbacks, and high taxes levied on wage earners and pensioners.

The press unions are demanding the immediate abolishment of all antilabor policies and of the violations of labor and union rights that contribute to the abolishment of the social state, and they called on all colleagues to actively participate in the strike.
