Journey2Jobs, a new program to support youth employment, will start February 20, with the aim to create for each participant a stable and well-paid work in computer programming, which is consistent with the interests, skills and desires of each participant.
The program is aimed at 50 participants and includes 200 hours intensive training in programming (in the languages Java and C#) and personal skills. The training program has been prepared, after communication with more than 100 companies and is based on actual current needs of the Greek market, with respect to the employee profile and expertise in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
The training program is designed for people aged 20-40 years who are out of work, students and science faculties graduates and it is available without cost. The selection of the 50 young people will be made after personal interviews, and other test tools evaluating, knowledge, motivation, personality and interests. The working group consists of highly skilled professionals in the field of development of specialized computer skills, career guidance, strengthening staff and professional profiles, who will work on the first annual cycle of the program for the education of youth group.
A key objective during the first annual phase of implementation, is more than 60% of participants to join the labor market with stable employment in positions related to the planning to the completion of the program.
The Journey2Jobs is implemented by HePIS (Hellenic Professionals Informatics Society) and project team, consisting of: Career in Progress, 1 + 1 = 2 Life and Business Coaching, Greek annex of the British Chamber of Information Technology (BCS) and Sympraxis Group. The program provides training to participants at no cost and is implemented with a donation by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
