The Finance Minister of Slovakia Peter Kazimir said he hoped his Greek counterpart Euclid Tsakalotos will return to Greece “with a suitcase stuffed with money” after Thursday’s Eurogroup.

“I do hope that Euclid [Tsakalotos] will fly back home with a briefcase stuffed with money,” he told journalists as he arrived for the meeting of Eurozone finance ministers in Luxembourg.

“The IMF will be onboard. But […] for us critically important is that the IMF experts are onboard. So what we need is IMF assistance in this area. For some colleagues the participation of the IMF is critically important for their parliament but I think this proposal from Christine Lagarde is doable,” he said.

Concerning debt relief, he said the May 2016 agreement mentions debt relief in 2018 after the end of the program “if it’s needed”.
