Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata on Saturday met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Fanar, Istanbul.
“We are here to clearly express our support to the Patriarchate’s ecumenical role. Hellenism has historic and timely bonds with the Orthodoxy and major national issue are linked with the Patriarchate. In our opinion any agreement between the Greek State and the Church can’t exist without the participation of the Ecumenical Patriarch. I had the opportunity to brief the Ecumenical Patriarch on our proposal for the establishment of a special inter-party committee in parliament that will seek for mutually acceptable solution on the relations between the State and the Church always with respect to their distinctive role” Gennimata stated after her meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch.
