KKE Sec’y Gen. Dimitris Koutsoumbas welcomes snap elections

Workers, leftists and democrats should not give in to “extortionist dilemmas” that will grow louder in the next 30 days as Greeks go to snap elections at the end of June, Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Secretary General Dimitris Koutsoumbas said on Sunday.

Speaking after the prime minister and SYRIZA leader declared he would ask the president for early elections, Koutsoumbas said that the questions posed during the campaign season “will not change the strategic similarities between SYRIZA and New Democracy.”

“We will participate in the battle of national elections at the end of June with optimism,” he said.
