“The pandemic is not over and the battle will continue,” Alternate Health Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis, who is paying a two-day visit to Crete in order to meet and exchange views with hospital officials, said on Monday.
Kontozamanis said that the country has so far managed to do relatively well and still had green areas on the Covid-19 map put out by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and that by adhering to the measures and vaccination “together we will be able to overcome this crisis.”
Regarding vaccination, he said that in Greece, which has provided vaccinations for the entire population, it is being carried out smoothly. He reiterated its effectiveness, clarifying that more vaccination lines will be set up in Crete in the coming days.
Kontozamanis stated that the goal is to vaccinate a critical percentage of the population by the beginning of the summer, which will enable the construction of the wall of immunity and open up the tourist season in Crete and the rest of Greece.
