Kotzias: Europe’s borders are final; whoever plays with fire ends up burned

The borders in Europe are final and whoever tries to question them will face serious consequences, Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said in an interview with “Real News” published on Sunday.

In a strongly-worded statement, Kotzias said to “those who dream pseudo-greatness”, Greece responds that “the borders of Europe are final and whoever tries to interfere with them will face great and serious consequences,” adding that the EU and Greece will not allow it.

He said Greek diplomacy cannot be pressured and will not back down from what it considers right for the country’s interests and the European values.

“Whoever plays with fire, ends being the one burned. We will not allow anyone to raise an issue of borders. We condemn along with our European allies anyone who has any such intentions,” he added.

Speaking openly about Turkey, the minister said Greece “is not a destroyed country” or an” easy shooting range” and urged the country to stop questioning international law and treaties and return to a productive dialog.
