Labour Minister Efi Achtsioglou met with representatives of the Pakistani community in Greece on Thursday, accompanied by the Special Secretary of the Hellenic Labour Inspectorate Nasos Iliopoulos. A ministry announcement said the meeting was held in response to reports of labour law violations at the expense of immigrant workers.
Achtsioglou urged members of the Pakistani community to immediately report any violations to the labour inspectorate, saying that there were no “second-class” employees. She also said the ministry intends to take action in the coming period, initiating a trilateral process to protect immigrant workers’ rights.
The labour inspectorate will also immediately initiate systematic inspections to combat labour law violations targeting immigrant employees and to enforce legality in work places.
