Lamda Development says ready to begin works in Hellinikon “yesterday”

We are ready to begin the Hellinikon project yesterday,” Odysseas Athanasiou, Lamda Development’s CEO said on Friday, addressing a general shareholders’ meeting of the company.

Athanasiou said Hellinikon Global SA and Lamda Development SA officially submitted on Thursday at the offices of HRADF the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) of the Hellinikon – Agios Kosmas Metropolitan Pole and stressed it was feasible to complete a process of issuing a presidential decree by November, according to the law. He estimated it would take at least another three months to issue the necessary joint ministerial decisions and noted that the Greek state must proceed with a tender for a casino license as several international groups have expressed interest.

Referring on the issue of the 37 stremma characterized as a forest by authorities (Hellinikon and HRADF have raised legal objections) Athanasiou said this particular point is the most important part of the project. “We have planned an integrated resort of 1,200 rooms, a casino, conference halls, all linked with a bridge over the seaside road. This part is very important for the business plan drafted by international consultants and millions have been spent on this. We can’t take a piece and move it elsewhere. It is not Legoland,” Lamda Development’s CEO said.
