Large number of buildings on quake-stricken Zakynthos uninhabitable

The examination of the buildings on the island of Zakynthos that were damaged by the 6.4 Richter quake that stroke the island on October 26 is in full progress.

According to the local authorities, 120 from the 250 buildings that have been examined were characterised uninhabitable. The checking of buildings started a week ago and the team of experts is comprised by architects and civil engineers of the restoration of natural disasters directorate of the Infrastructures Ministry.

The number of buildings with damages is very big and according to sources that biggest problems have been recorded in the areas of Kalamaki, Laganas, Lithakia, Keri, Maherado and Lagopodo.
