Lesvos police arrest individuals involved in incidents against journalists on Thursday

Police have arrested several people they had detained on Lesvos after incidents on Thursday night in which a group of extreme-rightists attacked journalists covering the visit of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to the island.

The group also attacked police, which used tear gas to disperse them.

The incidents were condemned on Friday by professionals and store owners of the main town of Mytilini.

Among the reasons for arrest were, case by case, revolt, disturbance of the peace, damage to property, libel and attempts to bodily harm. The arrested individuals were expected to appear before a magistrate late on Friday afternoon.
