Main opposition’s plan is to hand waste collection to private sector, PM’s press office says

The main opposition New Democracy party is “fully aligned” with business interests and its ultimate plan is for private interests to take over waste collection, the prime minister’s press office said in an announcement on Tuesday.

“ND is gloating over the situation that has arisen with the rubbish, since it considers that this will further its plans for private interests to take over rubbish collection,” the announcement said.

“The government repeats that, together with the workers, it will protect jobs in local government in order for collection to be carried out using the municipalities’ own means and not private contractors. ND’s full alignment with business interests continues,” it added.
