Greek border police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old Lebanese man for trying to illegally smuggle 21 Iraqi and Syrian nationals into Greece using a van with Romanian number plates. The suspect was caught as he was attempting to start the van on a side road of the Egnatia highway in Evros, near Greece’s northeastern border. He was led before an Alexandroupolis public prosecutor to be charged and the van was confiscated.
