Man wanted in Germany for 4.1-million-plus euros in unpaid taxes under arrest

A 45-year-old Greek man wanted in Germany for tax evasion that exceeds 4.1 million euros has been arrested in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki, authorities announced on Wednesday.

According to a European warrant issued for his arrest, the suspect was the CEO of a limited liability company based in Germany and together with another individual is accused of 49 counts of submitting fake invoices to the country’s tax authorities, thus avoiding the payment of taxes amounting to 4,141,428.22 euros.

The suspect was found in the Thessaloniki suburb of Neapoli and will be led before a Thessaloniki appeals prosecutor to begin proceedings for his extradition to Germany.
