The need for national consensus at this crucial period for Greece underlined New Democracy leader Evangelos Meimarakis in his interview to Sunday newspaper Proto Thema and expressed his certainty that his party will win the elections.
“Our ambition is to be the first party. We claim the first place again and I believe that the first place belongs to New Democracy,” said Meimarakis who did not rule out the possibility of a post-election cooperation with SYRIZA, noting that it takes two to tango.
In this context, he underlined that “from the moment we come first, there can be a broader cooperation of political forces of the European front for a four-year government based on a national plan for economic and social restoration.”
Moreover, Meimarakis charged SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras that “he leads the country to disaster.”
