MEP Lagos detained after testimony in Brussels court

The Brussels prosecutors office announced that European Parliament deputy Ioannis Lagos, sentenced by Greek courts as one of the leading members of the neo-Nazi organization Golden Dawn, was detained following his appearence before the Dutch-speaking court of the city on Wednesday.

Lagos was arrested on Tuesday on a European arrest warrant issued after his immunity was lifted by the European Parliament.
He has opposed his extradition to Greek authorities and will be detained until his case is reviewed by a court. The prosecutor’s office said a decision on his extradition will be issued in 15 days, but a date for his court case has not been set yet.
