Minister seeking shipping company to cover Sporades-Thessaloniki ferry service

The Shipping ministry will hold talks with shipping companies to try restart the ferry connection between the Sporades, a cluster of islands in the northwest Aegean Sea, with the port of Thessaloniki during summer season, Deputy Shipping Minister Nektarios Santorinios told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) on Wednesday.

The comments comes after Hellenic Seaways rejected a request by the mayors of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos to restart the ferry service during a meeting in Piraeus, saying an attempt to cover the connection with the company’s Flying Cat 4 for two years didn’t produce the expected economic results.
