New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said his party will support healthy entrepreneurship but will not tolerate shady practices by businesspeople.
“There’s no doubt which party trully supports entrepreneurship. Therefore, [which party] is close to employees. Because I do not draw a clear line [between the two]. Healthy businesses mean happy employees,” he said during a meeting with the chair of the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce.
“We will be strict on any deviations from what we define as healthy entrepreneurship. We will start, however, from the ‘big fish’. I said it yesterday to the representatives of the Hellenic Banking Association and I want to repeat it: We are not going to show any tolerance to companies that go bankrupt and shareholders who have their money abroad and tour the Aegean with their yachts. I want to be absolutely clear, because short reckonings make long friends,” he said.
Mitsotakis said his party views the Chambers as their allies in its efforts.
