EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini expressed her full support towards Greece and Cyprus on Friday over Turkey’s recent provocations in the Aegean, during a meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Brussels.
The EU official said the progress of EU-Turkey relations depend on the country’s respect for the sovereign rights of every member-state and international law.
As part of those talks, Mogherini and Tsipras also discussed developments in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and EU-Turkey relations, as well as her upcoming visit to the Western Balkans with European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker.
Mogherini welcomed Greece’s ongoing negotiations with FYROM over the name issue and talks with Albania, noting the country is “key” for the EU in the region.
