National Defence Minister Panos Kammenos minister meets with US State Dept official

The detention of two Greek servicemen in Turkey was discussed by National Defence Minister Panos Kammenos and A. Wess Mitchell, State Department assistant secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, when they met in Athens on Thursday.

In a statement, the ministry said “there was a general exchange of views on bilateral defence collaboration and on developments in the wider area,” adding that the two officials “discussed extensively the issue of the two Greek servicemen who are still detained by Turkey.”

(The two Greek servicemen were arrested on March 1when they strayed into Turkish territory while on a border patrol in northern Greece, and are awaiting trial.)
