National Growth Strategy to focus on fair and sustainable development, says Papadimitriou

The government’s new National Growth Strategy sets human resources and knowledge intensity as the focus of an equitable and sustainable development so that Greece can transition towards an economy that produces goods and services of higher added value, Economy Minister Dimitris Papadimitriou said on Monday at a conference in parliament titled “Crisis, reforms, growth”.

He said the strategy will prioritize openness in businesses and the strengthening of business partnerships to create internal value chains and business clusters.

The novelty of this strategy, he continued, is that it does not only leave it up to market forces to respond to the macroeconomic and fiscal consolidation and reforms for a business-friendly environment with foreign and domestic direct investment, but it also activates a policy of stimulating demand to lower unemployment, slow the brain drain and contribute significantly to the reduction of inequalities and poverty.
