ND accuses Tsipras of promising Erdogan to send back ‘Turkey’s 8’

Sources from the main opposition New Democracy accused Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras of promising Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to send back the eight Turkish officers who escaped to Greece after the failed coup of 2016.

Commenting on a speech by Tsipras in parliament earlier this evening, the official said that the prime minister did not deny a statement by Erdogan that he had promised to return them to Turkey.

The official said Tsipras contradicts himself: on the one hand he tried to downgrade the arrest of two Greek officers in a border incident last week and on the other he upgraded the incident by sending Defense Minister Panos Kammenos to NATO.
