ND intends to send the country back into the arms of the IMF, Tzanakopoulos says

Government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos on Tuesday said that main opposition New Democracy (ND) wants to restore a harsh neoliberal model in Greece and send the country back into the arms of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), while speaking in parliament during the debate on the 2019 draft budget.

“There is great confusion within ND at this time. The main opposition has thrown in the towel on economic issues after the collapse of the narrative it had built up in the last three years about a collapse of the economy, the destruction of its main productive fabric and other such things that we listened to with great patience,” he said.

“Today New Democracy has set aside this scenario of impending disaster and is engaged in either far-right rhetoric or an effort to present itself as the great protector of the poor,” claimed Tzanakopoulos.
