ND leader has run out of political fuel, claims gov’t spokesman

Government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos on Thursday ruled out early elections and welcomed a proposal by the head of the Movement for Change party Fofi Gennimata for a debate in parliament on the conditions of Greece’s exit from the programme, as well as the prior actions for completing the fourth review.

Tzanakopoulos said that the government not only will survive until October 2019 but will also become more stronger, with a good chance of winning the elections.

“New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis has run out of political steam, has run out of political arguments because he sees that the Greek economy is doing well and secondly that unemployment has dropped by 8 percentage points, despite the fact that is still extremely high”.

“I remind you,” said Tzanakopoulos, “that only in April we had 100,000 additional job positions, it is a historic record for the Greek economy.”
