Violence and lawlessness are unfortunately spreading from Athens to other Greek cities, main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated on Monday.
“The citizens feel insecure as they and their assets are threatened by rampaging hooded individuals,” he said and accused the government of “reaching the unprecedented point of negotiating with persons charged with terrorism and finally acquiescing to their demands.”
“This is a heavy blow for democratic legality and the rule of law. It is a provocation for the citizens, who feel unprotected,” added Mitsotakis, while he guaranteed that the next ND government will put a stop to such phenomena. “The Greek state will not tolerate either acts of violence or threats of violence. The people will be protected,” he said.
